Let's Talk About Destination Weddings!

Did you know that about 25% of all weddings in 2022 were destination weddings, and many of those were elopements for two? Like 80% of destination wedding couples, Paul and Nicola had been married before and wanted something simple and romantic, just for the two of them. That's not surprising considering how these two met. You see, they bumped into each other, literally, at Cardiff Train Station in South Wales UK, and have been together ever since. They both felt that it was love at first sight.

Depending on what area you live in, the average wedding can be $28,000 or more. Destination events are more cost-effective and personalized, for those who have "been there and done that" before.

Destination weddings, where you'd invite your closest friends and family, often have all of your needs accounted for and you can find an all-inclusive package at many locations that specialize in this type of event. For example, Mexico and Hawaii are known for big resorts that cater to that type of wedding experience, while other locations like California, North Carolina, and Florida have a more "let's do a pop-up wedding on the beach!" vibe to the experience.

Another factor that nine out of ten couples consider when planning their destination wedding is the weather in their location of choice. San Francisco, where this wedding was held, is most popular in April, May, September, and October when we have the lowest fog and warmest days. California is listed in the top five destinations in the U.S., and after speaking with us for guidance, this couple decided a September wedding in San Francisco would give them the warmest sunniest weather that our beautiful city offers. They weren't disappointed and it was very warm and sunny, so they got their wish!

When it comes to destination weddings, about 30% of couples decide to travel abroad to get married or have an elopement wedding. Relying on an experienced wedding and elopement planner is one way to make sure that you're able to book all of the services that you'd like, from vendors you can trust. Nicola told me that their dream wedding was "short and sweet" with a few great pictures they could frame. They chose The Tiny Wedding Package from our menu, which included up to two hours of wedding photography, a bridal bouquet and boutonniere, and a professional wedding officiant.

Their wedding was held on the 4th floor North Gallery of San Francisco City Hall and the couple enjoyed taking pictures on all four floors of this majestic building. Then they did exactly what they set out to do, and had a fabulous honeymoon before heading back to their new life together in England.
